The Downtown Independent School Consortium (DISC) is a select group of six famous private schools all located in Downtown New York City. Through DISC, the schools collaborate and compete both academically and athletically. The six member schools are highly-selective, amongst the best known schools in the city and, indeed, the country. The Independent School League is an interscholastic athletic conference founded in 1948 whose membership is made up of a number of leading New England prep schools, mainly in the Boston area. ISL members (as the league is more commonly known) comprise some of the nation’s most famous and prestigious schools who collaborate and compete academically and athletically. The league operates strict rules regarding athletic scholarships and academic performance whilst also prohibiting the participation of postgraduate students.
