GLOBAL EDUCATION BENCHMARK GROUP
The Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG) is a consortium of leading schools from around the world that share a common ethos and internationalist outlook. GEBG members work together to establish best practices and development programmes to improve educational delivery models. Member schools seek to foster a sense of global citizenship amongst students and staff alike whilst working cooperatively with peers from around the world. All of the GEBG schools attract an international student body and are considered to be at the vanguard of education in their respective markets.
ABOUT
Fundamentally, the Global Edcuation Benchmarking Group is about the development of a coherent and collaborative approach to education that instils an understanding of global perspectives and one’s place in a globalised world. Moreover, at its heart is the idea that we are each global citizens and, as citizens, have a repsonisbility to the global community and environment in which we participate, comntribute and extract from.
Through collaborative research programs, training courses and global conferences, the GEBG members are able to share best-praectice methodologies and to harmonise thinking around core common issues for the greater good of their students and the wider global community. Member schools are thus able to benchmark their models and performance against one another.
Founded in 2008, the Global Education Benchmark Group began as a means of collecting and sharing data between sixteen member schools who wished to test and assess outcomes of global citizenship projects. Since then, the organisation has grown to include some 300 schools from around the world, with the majority being based in the United States.
The GEBG member schools comprise a large number of the world’s most famous schools – schools that are revered for their robust and rigorous academics and cutting-edge educational programs. These schools often attract an international student body and have long benchmarked themselves against their global peers with the Global Education Benchmark Group being one of a number of formal arrangements that capitalises on those relationships.
Membership is subject to assessment and conformity with the ideals and frameworks of GEBG. Thus, membership tends to be available only to those schools that have already instituted quality global citizenship programmes and share a like-minded ethos. As a peer-approved organisation, membership often signifies that a school is considered to be a peer of the existing members – therefore one of the leading schools of the world with its faculty and students seeking to make an impact on the world.
