His philosophy has come to be codified in the IDEALS of the Round Square association, established in 1996 and which now comprises some 230 member schools from around the world. Many still adhere to the stricter aspects of the Hahn approach whilst others have implemented a modernised adaptation to suit their student body. Round Square has become the mark of some of the world’s best schools with many leading independent schools and international schools becoming members. Hahn’s educational philosophy and pedagogy has come to be particularly popular with royals, aristocrats and nobility for its selfless and public service focus and global citizenry outlook.

Round Square schools have a strong emphasis on holistic education which includes all aspects of a pupil’s life and school experience, including extracurricular activities, hence the association’s membership is heavily dominated by boarding schools or schools which have a significant number of boarders in addition to day pupils.

Round Square schools typically have extensive amenities and facilities on campus to accommodate a wide range of pursuits and adventures by pupils, with some rival schools having referred to Round Square members, unfairly, as theme park schools. However, pupil satisfaction levels are high for the most part and academic standards are rigorous. Indeed, it is the academic rigour and cultural vigour that has made member schools such popular choices for prospective pupils and their parents.
