NEW YORK SIX LIBERAL ARTS CONSORTIUM: THE FINEST SELECTIVE LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGES IN THE STATE
The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium (NY6) is an exclusive association of six of the top-ranked, highly selective, private liberal arts colleges in the state, considered to be amongst the best in the nation. The member schools work closely with one another, collaborating on research projects and grant funding petitions, programme design and delivery, shared learning opportunities and cross-registration, staff training and management and administrative functions. Such initiatives allow the six colleges to share expertise and resources to ensure the best experience for students and faculty alike, whilst also reducing the costs faced by each institution.
ABOUT
The NY6 consortium was first assembled in 2009 when the six founding presidents were successfully awarded a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to facilitate and support the exploration of collaboration opportunities.
The six member colleges have a long-history of working with one another and considered themselves to be peers of one another, as well as of other elite-tier liberal arts colleges and selective research universities across the United States (such as those of the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges (CLAC), the Small College Consortium (SCC), the Selective Liberal Arts Consortium (SLAC) and other regional associations such as the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), the Associated Colleges of the South (ACS), the Claremont Colleges, the Northwest 5, the Pennsylvania Consortium for the Liberal Arts (PCLA), ). Indeed, the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium works closely with its peers through these other regional and national associations. The colleges are part of the wider “Ivy Plus” community and participate in various Ivy Plus initiatives under the Ivy Plus consortium banner, including the Ivy Plus Sustainability Consortium (IPSC) and the Ivy Plus Writing Consortium (IPWC).
