EIGHT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION (ESA): A GREAT EIGHT AMERICAN PREP SCHOOLS

The Eight Schools Association is a formalised membership group comprised of some of the leading independent prep schools in the United States. The association allows members to share best practice on administration, admissions and marketing whilst also comprising an athletics conference. The members are often considered to be the top tier of schools in the USA.

ABOUT

The group was founded in 1973, bringing together many of the top tier New England boarding schools (with one New Jersey school). The schools seek to work together to address matters of mutual concern and interest, educational research, administration, the delivery of education and future trends in the sector as well as various sporting and other competitive events.

The group’s membership has remained unchanged since its foundation with members including those schools listed below, all of whom, with the exception of Northfield Mount Hermon, are also members of the prestigious Ten Schools Admission Organization. Many of these schools are members of the Gateway to Prep Schools consortium which affords prospective applicants with a single admissions portal from which they can apply to many of the schools with a single candidate profile. All of the schools are members of the Independent School Innovation Consortium (ISIC), a consortium of more than twenty of the most renowned schools in the country which was created to advance standards in schools innovation and establishing metrics to support college admissions.
