TEN SCHOOLS ADMISSION ORGANIZATION (TSAO): A CONSORTIUM OF THE MOST ELITE BOARDING SCHOOLS IN THE USA

The Ten Schools Admission Organization (TSAO) is a formal grouping of some of the leading college-preparatory schools in the United States who come together to share best practice ideas in relation to attracting and processing admissions from top pupil applicants from across the country and internationally. The member schools consider themselves to be peer schools and, as such, the group has come to be considered to represent the elite independent schools in the USA. Many of the members are well-known institutions both at home and overseas.

ABOUT

The organisation was first established in 1952 bringing together what were, then, the top boarding schools in New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, if not the United States. Arguably, many of these schools are still regarded as the most prestigious schools in the country. As a collective, the TSAO is advocates for boarding schools generally and seeks to inform potential pupils and their families on the virtues of selecting a leading boarding school and all that such schools have to offer.

TSAO members benchmark against one another with respect to high academic and admissions standards, breadth of experience offered to pupils and approach to recruitment and scholarships. Many of the member schools routinely feature in lists of the best schools in the world and are members of the Eight Schools Association. Many of these schools are members of the Gateway to Prep Schools consortium which affords prospective applicants with a single admissions portal from which they can apply to many of the schools with a single candidate profile. All of the schools except Hill are members of the Independent School Innovation Consortium (ISIC), a consortium of more than twenty of the most renowned schools in the country which was created to advance standards in schools innovation and establishing metrics to support college admissions. Nonetheless, Hill and various other elite boarding schools (such as those that comprise the Select 16) have participated in ISIC sponsored studies.
