Consequently, fees can be high in order to meet demand and to offer facilities that may attract the very best and brightest pupils. This is particularly so in major cities like London. However, in order to ensure that the brightest are able to attend, many private schools have scholarship and bursary support schemes in place to ease any financial hardship on parents of admitted pupils. The London Fee Assistance Consortium is a coalition of leading independent schools from in and around the British capital that work together to share best practice on admissions procedures and to promote the availability of financial assistance schemes for pupils who score highly on entrance exams but who might not otherwise be able to attend due to financial circumstances.
