PARENTS LEAGUE OF NEW YORK
The Parents League of New York (PLNY) was originally founded in 1913 as a means of formalising discourse and relations between parents and the management of the independent and private schools at which their children were pupils. The league’s purpose is to develop material and resources, particularly to inform parents and prospective parents as to each member school’s policies and admission requirements. Initially the Parents League exclusively focused on the leading private and independent schools of New York City, however its’ success and best-in-class approach has resulted in a much wider membership with many of America’s leading schools now members of the league.
ABOUT
The Parents League of New York is a membership body open to families, parents, advisors and schools. It allows for interaction and experience sharing between members with a view to ensuring that prospective parents have the best possible information available to them to assist with making decisions on appropriate schools. The participation of independent schools allowing for greater transparency regarding those schools’ admissions criteria and selection processes, similar to other such organisations including: the Parents Council and the Parents Independent School Network.
Schools membership is subject to an assessment of the application by the Parents League organisation with only those considered to be of the highest calibre being approved. It has therefore, become a badge of honour to be accepted as a member for leading independent schools.
