
Durham School was founded in 1414 making it one of the oldest educational institutions in England and the oldest in the city of Durham. The school was established by Royal Charter as a grammar school instructing boys in the classic tradition to prepare for entry into the leading universities. The school is a Public School that is fully co-educational and caters for boarding and day students alike. Together with Bow, Durham School (the associated preparatory school), Durham admits pupils from ages 3-18. The school has established sister schools overseas under the Durham International brand, including: Durham School for Girls Doha; and Durham International Schools Nairobi.
