The oldest continuous boarding school in the United States, The Governor’s Academy was established by way of endowment from former Lt. Gov. William Drummer, of the illustrious Drummer family – great supporters of early American education institutions. The school was formerly named Governor Drummer’s Academy but changed its name in 2006 and is often referred to as “Govs”. Located near Boston, the school has attracted the descendants of the great Brahmin families, preparing them for matriculation to Ivy League universities.
