GROTON SCHOOL

Groton is famed as one of America’s great examples of the British public school model, having been established as an alternative to the scientific academy model that had become popular, particularly in New England. Groton, an Episcopal school, espoused the muscular Christianity concept popular in England, that believed in the development of character and the creation of capable gentleman alongside the delivery of a college-preparatory education from it’s mainly boarding campus known as “The Circle”. The school quickly became popular amongst the American upper and upper middle classes and now boasts an alumni register that reads like a veritable who’s who of American society. The school competes against like-minded peers in the Independent School League.

ABOUT

One of the most famous schools in the world and considered to be amongst the very best of private American boarding schools, Groton is a boys college-preparatory school in Massachusetts. The school was established in 1884 under the Episcopal faith and modelled after the great British “Public Schools”, in contrast to the Puritan academy model adopted by many of Groton’s peer schools. Groton is a leading boarding school for young men, one of the most selective, competitive and exclusive in the country and a leading feeder into the Ivy League.
